JVES Professional Learning Vision
Highly effective instruction is characterized by the way learning is customized and personalized to meet the various needs of all students. The same can be said for teacher professional development within a school building. Differentiating and providing choice for professional development allows teachers within a school to grow in a manner that is beneficial and meaningful to them, and ultimately what is best for their students.
Bird University
Vision
Faculty and staff at Joppa View ES will choose from several professional development courses to complete throughout the year that will meet their professional learning needs and goals, as well as the needs and goals of the school. The courses are aligned with the School Progress Plan and Joppa View professional development focuses for the school year, and will encourage collaboration and reflective practices to improve classroom instruction for students.
Each professional development course is assigned a credit based on the hours outside of the school day it will take to complete. All faculty and staff, unless noted otherwise by the administration, will have the option to complete some of these courses for CPD credits. In order to earn 1 CPD credit, participants must earn a minimum of 15 BU credits from the eligible courses. Faculty and staff will have the option to participate in Bird University without earning CPD credits and also to opt out of Bird Unviersity, but instead particpate in required monthly PDs.
